Update on fees for Renal physicians

Dear Valued Patients,

We regret to inform you that we are unfortunately no longer in a position to offer a fully bulk-billed Nephrology service at Baw Baw Physicians. This is due to the rising costs associated with running a practice and the lack of adequate indexation of the Medicare rebate over many years.

This means that for most patients there will be a $30- $60 gap payment for a routine review appointment. Concessional rates will be offered to pensioners and health care cardholders.

To aid in the transition, all pre-existing patients of our practice will be eligible for the concessional rate until July 1, 2024. 

Special populations including patients undergoing chronic dialysis, those who have had a kidney transplant within the last two years, or people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander will remain eligible for bulkbilled consultations.

We remain committed to providing ongoing care to all patients of our practice so if these changes will cause undue financial hardship, please let the practice know.
